This picture gives me the same feeling I had while looking up into a leafy canopy on a hot summer day in Door County, Wisconsin. This panel was 6 layers of glass weighing a total of 17 lbs. I sandwiched the leaves between two panes of glass; they are free floating. Then I placed the stained glass tree with wavy brown glass over that, then another clear glass pane over the tree to keep the piece dust free and low maintenance. Each leaf was individually cut freehand from intensely colored stained glass, hand painted for detail and kiln fired. I've made several more trees like this since, but this first one remains my favorite.
