In spite of it being the most expensive, this is my most popular leaf strand. Pretty sure that's because the hand-painted leaves are clear glass so they're a neutral color that will fit in any decor. Or maybe it's because all the stones and driftwood are gathered from Door County WI beaches? You get to take home a piece of Lake Michigan.
These are pricier than my other strands because they are very labor intensive. Aside from the fact I'm doing all the beach-combing myself (hey, somebody's got to do it), I'm also drilling all the holes in each component and carefully assembling the strands so each section is a work of art in itself.
The clear glass leaves are kiln fired and slumped into organic shapes rather than fired flat. This makes them stronger than they appear. These DC strands are great for indoors or out. If hanging outdoors, avoid placing them where they could strike hard surfaces (like a metal post) in the wind. My favorite place to hang them is from a tree.
ABOUT MY GLASS: All of my glass art is cut freehand without patterns; every piece is unique. I use the same methods and materials that have been used by glass artists for centuries: the paint is powdered glass which, when kiln-fired becomes one with the glass beneath it. These pieces will last your lifetime and more.
