This piece was inspired by the giant crab-apple tree in front of my house. Trying something new here! Instead of heavy soldered pieces, I'm using hammered copper for branches, and soldering wired glass leaves, blossoms and "buds" (iridescent teardrop beads that pick up the colors around them) to the branches. To cut down on weight and prevent breakage on large glass panels, I'm using two pieces of UV safe Lexan. Measures 10" x 30" in a custom powder coated black steel frame. Looks stunning in a window but could also work very nicely on a wall.
All of my glass art is cut freehand without patterns; every piece is unique. And I use the same methods and materials that have been used by glass artists for centuries: the paint is powdered glass which, when kiln-fired becomes one with the glass beneath it. These pieces will last a lifetime. And more.
